Parent policy overview
These highlights help families understand how care operates. The complete, current handbook and required written acknowledgments are provided before a child’s first day.
Operations and closures
Regular hours, holiday closures, professional-development days, weather closures, and other planned closures are confirmed in the signed family handbook and calendar.
Arrival and departure
Children must be transferred directly between a caregiver and an authorized adult. Photo identification may be requested. Pickup changes must come from an authorized guardian.
Health and illness
Families must disclose allergies, health needs, and reportable communicable disease information. A guardian must arrange prompt pickup when a child becomes ill and care cannot safely continue.
Medication
Medication is accepted only under the program’s written policy with required authorization, labeling, storage, and administration records.
Food and allergies
Menus, substitutions, dietary restrictions, and allergy safeguards are confirmed with each family before care begins.
Positive guidance
Caregivers use age-appropriate redirection, clear limits, encouragement, and problem-solving. Physical punishment, humiliation, threats, and withholding basic needs are not permitted.
Emergency readiness
The program maintains evacuation, relocation, shelter-in-place, reunification, emergency-contact, and backup-care procedures and reviews them regularly.
Family communication
Guardians receive information about their child’s day and are notified of illness, injury, emergencies, material policy changes, and other situations requiring action.
Fees and termination
Tuition, deposits, payment timing, late fees, withdrawal, and termination terms are set out in the signed enrollment agreement.
Privacy and photos
Private child records and photos are limited to authorized people. Photo permissions are requested separately and can be discussed or withdrawn.
Licensing and compliance information
Families may review Virginia childcare standards and provider information through the Virginia Department of Education. Current program credentials and required disclosures are reviewed during the enrollment process.
